Seeking clean environments

Our team was invited to present our perspective and work on environmental issues in the West Line at a round table organized at the Leiden University, The Hague, by the Students for Palestine on Wednesday December 7 2022.

👇 Now available, our 8-min pre-recorded film (Arabic audio, English subtitles) on electronic waste and the efforts of our team.

The round table brought together Julie Trottier, Zaynedb Ashalalfeh, Chihiro Geuzenbroek, Elena Burgos Martinez and Elisa da Via, to discus the question of environmental colonialism in Palestine.

Our presentation, titled “Seeking clean environments: Palestinian women in an electronic waste hub” focused on the relation between occupation, the informal electronic waste economy, health, and environmental impacts experienced by women.

We shared reflections on our efforts to document e-waste related contamination and our hopes to restore healthy communities and environments.

After many years working on this issue jointly with Prof. Garb’s team, with several successful pilots, we are convinced that one can achieve only limited environmental and health progress – protection, remediation, enforcement, treatment, healing – without cooperation and allies. So don’t hesitate to get in touch!
