The Tatweer Wa Nahda is boosting its skills in surveying, as part of outreach and communication capacity-building activities.
On Friday, February 23, 2024, Tatweer wa Nahda organized a training in a beautiful natural setting in Kreisa, Dura. The training was provided by the association’s president, Mrs. Sarah Al Awawdeh, and supported by MERC-funded research project entitled: “Assessing the Health and Environmental Impacts of Unregulated E-waste Recycling and Disposal”.
Within this project, the association intends to implement a household health survey that will assess the health status of inhabitants of the Western Line villages. With this objective in mind, the goal of this capacity-building session was to train the team on how to introduce themselves and ask questions when conducting surveys with the target audience. The training involved simulating different scenarios and situations that the association team may encounter when conducting surveys.
The training aimed to equip the team with the necessary skills and techniques to effectively engage with community members and gather relevant data for future studies. Different survey scenarios were rehearsed collectively. As exercises and feedback accumulated, the team became more confident in their abilities to communicate with respondents and gather precise data.
Furthermore, the session emphasized the importance of clear communication, active listening, and professionalism when conducting surveys. Participants gained knowledge on how to interact with respondents in a friendly manner, deal with challenging circumstances, and guarantee the accuracy and integrity of the data gathered.
To summarize, the training program significantly enhanced the association team’s capacity to carry out surveys and effectively communicate with the community. The insights and experience gained during this session will be invaluable as the association prepares for future initiatives like the upcoming health survey, ensuring the efficacy and significance of their efforts.
