In July 2023, Tatweer wa Nahda organized, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, its fourteenth Identity and Belonging Summer Camp, under the slogan “Summer Camp for Scouts: Identity and Belonging; They Are Moons in the Sky, They Are Not Numbers”. Located within the Deir Samit High School for Girls, the camp welcomed 100 children and teenagers.
The camp was honoured to receive the visit of representatives from the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and from the Political Guidance Department.
The summer camp was also an opportunity to discover an engage further with Palestinian archaeology, music, traditions, and rich culture: from dressing to cooking and weaving to farming, children could see many generations of tools and practices from the area. It was wonderful to be part of this journey
The Mayor of Deir Samit/Al Simya further received the children at the library and praised the role of summer camps.
The next day, Doctors without border joined the summer camp for a joyful activity bringing together health, education and colourful drawings.
It was a packed week, full of fun, joy, laughter, and insights. We are grateful for these moments and to all the organizations and institutions that made this camp possible. We look forward to the next camp!
